Biography

Dr. Love is a social psychologist and a criminologist. He enjoys conducting social psychological experiments, and is best known for a U.S. National Science Foundation sponsored experimental study of the relationships among power, gender, and the ability to accurately take the role of the other. In addition to the aforementioned work on role-taking, Dr. Love also studies identity change, juvenile delinquency, intimate partner violence, and problems in current sociological methodology.

Research project undertaken at the ANU

Dr. Love's primary research at the ANU is a collaboration with Dr. Jenny Davis, Lecturer in the School of Sociology. Their joint research program continues to employ laboratory experiments to examine role-taking, perspective taking, and empathy with primary focus on the effects of social status, race, and gender. This work is a part of Dr. Davis' 2018 Futures Scheme project. Dr. Love will lead methods workshops, public lectures, and seminars on dates to be determined.
